Hi! I’m Merideth, and I make cakes!

I’m a military wife, a graduate student, and a self-taught home baker in Corpus Christi, TX with a love for celebrations and sweet treats. I make all my cakes from scratch in my cozy home kitchen, and I’ve been serving my homemade treats to the Coastal Bend area for almost a year. I’d love to help you make your next celebration a little sweeter!
The Story Behind the Cakes

Meri Makes Cakes got started in the initial days of the COVID-19 pandemic. I had just lost my jobs as a substitute teacher and a choreographer at the local community theater, and everything was shut down. Some good friends of mine were on their last rolls of toilet paper, and they were getting desperate. I had a few rolls to spare, as well as some new free time. So I decided to brighten up their day with a chocolate peanut butter cake and some TP to help them make it through.

The simple act of baking, frosting, and decorating a cake for a friend inspired me to bring more smiles to the faces of people thrown into a time of worry, fear, and uncertainty. So, I rolled up my sleeves, washed my hands, and got to work. I baked and delivered free cakes to friends and essential workers in the area for a week straight. The smiles and waves I got from people grabbing their cakes off their porches after a socially-distanced, masked-up cake delivery gave me the motivation I needed to build Meri Makes Cakes and begin serving sweet smiles all over Corpus Christi and beyond.
